Bear of the Show
National Teddy Bear
Festival, Christchurch, November 2002
I
could not let the year go by with out making a bear in honour
of the celebration of the 100th birthday of the Teddy Bear.
I
wanted a bear in a traditional design but with a modern twist.
After many hours of research Century was born.
He
is very traditional in shape but has alot of hand shading on
his face paws and feet and has pellets in is tummy. He is
18" standing and is a very heavy fellow.
Century
wears a 1902 around his neck to help symbolize the bringing
together of old and new.

Taffy

|
Bear of
the show and
Judges choice
New
Zealand National Festival, Hamilton, September,
1999
Taffy was
very experimental when I made him.
He has
tropunto paw pads and is multi jointed, none of
which I had tried before.
A double
neck joint and joints in his wrist add to his poseability.
Taffy was
produced in a limited edition of 5 which has now
sold out.

Although
I had not sold any bears at this stage I entered
Esmeralda in the professional section as a trial
to see how I got on against the countries best.
To my amazement she won, setting the path for my
venture into the bear making business.

Billy
2nd Novice Original design

National Festival 1996
Billy is the reason I am still
making bears today. It was a total shock to be
placed second as he was my first ever mohair bear
and the first original design. In
1998 I decided to make a limited edition of 5
Billy's which has sold out.
